A Taste of Mindfulness

An Introductory Class

Are you interested in meditation but don’t know where to start? Have you tried to meditate and find that you feel unsure about if you're doing it correctly? This FREE 90-minute class is designed to teach you the basic elements of Mindfulness meditation to bring into your own life. It can also be a helpful step in deciding whether the 8-week MBSR course is right for you.

Stress takes a toll on both our physical and emotional well-being. Many chronic illnesses can be traced to stress. Stress also suppresses the immune system, negatively affects our relationships with one another, and reduces our quality of life. Mindfulness practice is a profound way to develop the skills to change your relationship with stress and to better resource your body to face life's challenges.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

8-Week MBSR Course

Have you tried to use a Mindfulness or meditation practice but couldn’t get it to stick? Do you want to have a better handle on your stress and your health but haven't found a strategy that works?

We can’t always change the stressful circumstances in our lives, but we can learn new ways of responding to them. The 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) structured program (plus orientation & retreat) will teach you to confront your stress differently and to live your life more fully and resiliently. You will learn to recognize stress patterns earlier and more easily, to relate differently to difficult thoughts, emotions and painful experiences, how to maintain your focus and attention during the day, and to be less reactive and overwhelmed. This course is experiential. That means we don’t just talk about what Mindfulness is or how to do it, we practice it. Each week will integrate new practices and dialogue to build upon the previous weeks allowing you to deepen your skills and explore internal experiences. Between classes, you will be strongly encouraged to practice at home to develop these skills further. You don’t need any meditation experience or even a quiet mind to participate, just the will to show up and be curious about your experiences. Each participant has greater potential to learn self-awareness, steadiness and self-compassion and in return be given greater freedom in his or her life. This course is not about achieving a particular outcome. It’s a framework for exploring and re-working your relationship with yourself, your stresses and your everyday experiences.
